Ways to Go Director Todd Drezner recently interviewed U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx in New York (they are pictured together after the interview).
As he discusses in this Washington Post article, Secretary Foxx grew up in a Charlotte, North Carolina neighborhood that was divided by a highway. In his current position, he’s drawing attention to the many communities around the country that were similarly affected by highway construction in the mid 20th Century. By drawing attention to the poor decisions of the past, Secretary Foxx hopes to help communities make better transportation decisions in the future.
